AMSkier
Insurance and CampMinder Partner
To Enhance the Safety of Children Nationwide
Ensuring the
safety of other people's children at residential and day
camps continues to be the # 1 priority of camp directors.
That's why we're excited to announce that we are partnering
with CampMinder to bring The Staffer Index to more camps
nationwide.
Our AMSkier
Staffer Index is the best resource that camp directors can
use to check the backgrounds of staff before they are
convicted of a crime. Since we created it in 1985 for the
camps we insure, The Staffer Index has helped identify child
molesters, and it aided the state police in identifying and
tracking a molester who was moving from one camp to
another. We
have documented testimonials attesting to the value of the
Staffer Index.
CampMinder (www.campminder.com)
was founded by Dan Konigsberg, who is equally concerned
about the safety of children. CampMinder provides innovative
solutions to simplify camp management within the context of
its comprehensive, powerful and secure web-based system.
Whenever any
CampMinder user accesses a staff member or applicant's
record, CampMinder will automatically search the Staffer
Index and provide camp director references if the applicant
is found to have worked at another camp. Participation of
CampMinder clients will also add tens of thousands of names
to the Staffer Index and enhance its effectiveness for every
camp that uses it.
While we will
offer The Staffer Index to camps nationwide on a
subscription basis, AMSkier and CampMinder camps that
provide their staff rosters to the Staffer
Index will have free subscriptions.
For AMSkier
insured camps that use The Staffer Index, you will find it
more readable and user-friendly than ever before. Among the
improvements will be the ability to conduct a search of all
your staff members or candidates simultaneously.
If you have
not previously used The Staffer Index, please take this
opportunity to consider it. It allows you to discover
unsuitable employees by getting to the truth about their
past employment history, while letting your staff, as well
as your campers' parents, know that you are willing to go
that extra step when it comes to screening who works at your
camp. The Staffer Index is designed for you to learn facts,
as opposed to opinions and innuendo, and it allows you
access to information that is always accurate and does not
expose its users to liability for defamation. Use of The
Staffer Index defines due diligence.
Since
The Staffer Index is just a listing of all staff employees
and their camp employment history, it does not include
evaluations, comments or references — simply a name and
his/her employment history. Users can search only by staff
name, and not by camp. In other words, this data is secure,
cannot be mined, and can be used only for the purpose of
protecting you.
It
works like this:
- Camp
directors provide an electronic listing of staff names
annually.
- Camp directors alert
potential employees that they will be listed in the
index as a way to track their camp employment history.
If an applicant is inclined to act
inappropriately, he/she will probably look elsewhere for
employment.
- Camp directors check the
Staffer Index for
any or all applicants to see where they have been
previously employed.
- Camp directors use the
names, addresses and phone numbers provided by the
Staffer Index to contact their colleagues if they want a
reference for an applicant.
As we begin
our partnership with CampMinder and expand The Staffer Index
to safeguard even more children, we would like you to be
part of this effort. The more camps that subscribe to
Staffer, the more effective it becomes.
We'll be
making a national announcement soon about AMSkier and
CampMinder joining together to improve the safety of
children. We are at 800-245-2666, if you have any questions.
